Norwich University is America's first private military college, located in central Vermont.

Norwich wanted to create one video for each of their three engineering departments, geared towards prospective high school students. They were on a tight deadline and needed shooting done before the students left for the summer. We had one concept meeting, followed by shooting during the last 2 weeks of school.

Titling

For the titling I created an aluminum plate with black vinyl die cut on front and back.

WhistlePig wanted to create a promo video, meshing their product into the landscapes, actions and textures of a Vermont summer. Marketing team Evan Daniel and Ian Durkin produced and organized the shoot at a farmhouse in Cavendish, VT. I shot and edited it. Evan and Ian created a rough storyboard which got fleshed out during shooting.

Project

SPPAC wanted to create a mini-doc piece highlighting a legendary performance by violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman. Mr. Perlman and the world class musicians that make up The Perlman Music Program were generous enough to give us a few interviews, which we fused together with footage of their performance, attending Vermont Youth Orchestra, and the beauty of the venue itself.

Behind the scenes video of a PocketWizard photoshoot with photographer Adrien Broom. Adrien is a self-taught photographer with a penchant for the bizarre and beautiful. She is committed to creating art thats is exploratory, communicative, and empowering to the viewer. Her photographs represent a peek into her aesthetic connection to the world around her. Her images often tell stories, exploring conversations between the natural world and western culture through constructed narrative scenes.

Over the past two years, a large team of Middlebury students have designed and built a house for the U.S. Department of Energy's 2011 Solar Decathalon Competition.

Project

Ian Durkin and I shot one of four videos needed for the final entry. Ian scripted and edited this piece, I took care of titling. The project earned 4th place overall, 4th place for architecture and 1st place for communications (the videos) at the nationwide competition.

Bio

Norwich University has been chosen for the U.S. Department of Energy's 2013 Solar Decathalon. Over the course of the next two years they will be receiving video prompts from the DOE.

"Think about your reaction when you found out you were a competitor and show us how excited you are to participate in this nationally recognized program. What sets you and your team apart from the other competitors and why is your team going to win? Other guidelines for this video were it could be no more than 60 seconds and could contain no background music.

Titling

Norwich Architecture student Matt St. Pierre made an amazing title I designed to stem off of the engineering titling.

In March 2010, the State of Vermont's Telecommunication Authority submitted an entry to the Google Fiber Optic test network.

Project

The VTA needed a short video to encapsulate their message and persuade Google to use Vermont as their test location. They wanted to get a few messages across about Vermont: Varied Terrain, Urban & Rural, and Access to Government. I had one week to do this on top of full time classes at Champlain College.

Titling

I used helvetica letters attached to various things to make the whole video more engaging.

Bio

Slytech Protection makes action sports protection gear. They sponsored the 2010 Absinthe snowboard film "NOWHERE."

Project

Slytech wanted to showcase the functions of their newest back protector. The clip was needed for the DVD's bonus menu and the Slytech site. I shot all the product footage and spliced in action footage given to us by Absinthe Films.

Titling

I cut the titling out of 1/4" black foamcore and suspended it in from the ceiling for an organic 3D type effect.

Bio

With a passion for music, skateboarding and street art, Adam DeVarney is not the type of artist you would expect from the mountains and hills of Vermont. Although living most of his life in the Green Mountain State, Adam studied art in Brooklyn, NY, at the Pratt Institute. Even after graduating and returning home to Vermont, a part of the city never really left him. Influences, of which, are prevalent in his artwork. The lure of city living and urban culture has most recently drawn DeVarney to the city of Chicago, where he now resides.

Adam wanted to create a video showcasing his method, inspirations and personality. This piece was shot during his artist-in-residency at Burlington's Firehouse Gallery throughout the spring of 2010.

PocketWizard held a lighting workshop with photographer Rick Friedman. The task was to light the inside of the breeding barn at Shelburne Farms. I was there to document the day.

Burlington, VT resident Lance Llewellyn has been collecting pieces of Vermont history for over 50 years. He recently donated his lifelong collection to Champlain College. Housed in the school's newly renovated Perry Hall, the Llewellyn Collection is an engaging look at the past.

Project

This is a series of videos dedicated to publicizing and sparking interest in the collection.

Titling

Since the collection is new to Champlain College, an identity was needed before moving forward with any marketing material or videos. We hired Champlain Alumni Tommy Shimko to create the identity. We then printed it onto a transparent sheet and attached it to one of the glass bookshelf doors to give it an organic 3D look.
